Alloys in partnership with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) are building a Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCCs) at Dilokong Hospital in the Gowe Village which will be a one-stop facilities aiming to reduce secondary victimisation and to build a case ready for successful prosecution for GBV cases.
Femi Power provides hourly and ad hoc collection and transportation services for Lion Smelter, shuttling samples between the various control rooms and labs. They are a small, local, black woman-owned enterprise from Steelpoort.
Since 2017, Alloys has been working closely with L&T Tutors to provide extra maths and science lessons to Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners in schools near operations in Rustenburg (Boshoek, Kroondaal and Rustenburg)
Alloys has worked with GreenSource, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local government and other partners to install water systems at several schools near its operations in Rustenburg. They comprise a 65,000-litre water storage facility with a man-made soccer pitch on top. The pitch gathers rainwater and stores it in crates made of recycled plastic, and then treats the water so that it is safe to drink. When the rainwater has been treated, the system also treats borehole water. This clean water is then made available to the school’s learners and to the wider community.
Unhygienic ablution facilities in South Africa’s schools aid to spread diseases, and strip learners of their dignity and basic human rights.
To help address this, we have upgraded ablution facilities and installed Enviro Loos at eight schools in the North West and Limpopo.
In 2020 Alloys donated a R2.8 million machine to help increase COVID-19 testing capacity. As part of our CSI initiative, we partnered with Ndlovu Care Group, an NGO with the only research lab in Limpopo with the capacity to roll out COVID-19 testing at a fast turnaround time.
Eastern Chrome Mines (ECM) donated two underground diamond drilling machines, an additional engine, as well as 400 drill rods and a Toyota Hilux double cap to local black-owned SMME, Bonico Maintenance Projects.
Bonico Maintenance Projects was sub-contracted to the ECM’s main contractor for several years and through growth and determination, was awarded a contract to offer underground exploration drilling services.
